Heart to Heart with Shevon Jones
Tell us who you are and what you do?
I am a licensed therapist, mom, lover of people and overall encourager.
What's the single most important thing about your work that people don't understand?
There’s a few things but honestly people don’t understand that nothing has to be wrong with you to go to therapy.
How can people take what you specialize in to be better advocates for social justice and equity?
If you’re going to allow Black women a seat at the table let them speak at the table. Black women are struggling emotionally on jobs that do not see their value or belittle their existence.
What's the world you want to live in? What 3 things will it take for us to get there?
I want to live in a world where people don’t feel ashamed to ask for help. It’s going to take people being able to acknowledge their pain, have access to proper care and continue normalizing the conversation around help seeking.
How do you define joy?
Joy is simply the freedom to breathe without the weight of the world on your shoulders.
